Comprehensive Travel Grant Application Guide
At AIMS we fully understand the stress and anxiety involved in raising funds for your HSCT treatment, and while we can award grants towards travel expenses, we cannot offer financial support for the treatment itself. It is important that you do not base your decision to undertake HSCT on the possibility that you may receive a grant for travel expenses - grants cannot be guaranteed. In order to qualify for a travel grant from AIMS, there are certain criteria that you must meet, and two parts to the process. Applicants will be advised of progress by email at each stage.
From 1 January 2026, the AIMS Travel Grant Scheme will offer a simpler, faster, and more flexible application process
Key changes:
✅ Apply anytime – before or up to one month after discharge
✅ Only one online form (no more multi-stage process)
✅ Faster payments after treatment
These changes ensure the process is more accessible, transparent, and focused on what matters most — supporting patients through their HSCT journey.
🗓️ When to Apply

You can apply:

Up to one month after discharge, or
-
Before treatment
if you have a letter from your clinic confirming you’ve been selected for HSCT.

✅ Eligibility Requirements
You must:

Have a confirmed date for your HSCT treatment in the UK or Mexico (Grants for Russia are currently suspended due to the situation in Ukraine).

Treatment must be at an AIMS-supported centre.

Be a UK resident.

Understand that AIMS offers grants towards

The cost of travel to an AIMS supported treatment centre for the patient only

The amount of the grant (if awarded) will depend upon the location of the clinic.

💰 Claims (After Approval)
If your application is successful, AIMS will issue a provisional award once you:

Complete your treatment,

Provide payment details, and
-
Provide a copy of your clinic letter confirming HSCT treatment dates.
